Winter morning. You rush to work or to take your child to school, run outside, start the car... but realize that the windshield wipers got frozen to the glass at night. Familiar situation, isn’t it?

Today we will tell you a little about what you need to do and what you should definitely not do if the wiper blades in your car are frozen to the glass.

First things to remember: never turn on icy wipers or try to forcefully pry them off the glass. Also, do not leave the wipers vertically raised at night; although this method saves them fr om icing, it is still undesirable since the spring stretches over time and begins to press the wiper against the glass poorly, which leads to deteriorated cleaning and the appearance of stains on the glass.

You can, of course, start the engine and wait for the car to warm up so that the air flow becomes warm and can melt the ice on the windshield. But if you are in a hurry, this method is clearly not suitable for you.

Well, what then to do if you’re short on time?

Using a quick method with available tools, you can pour the wipers with warm water (but by no means boiling water!) or antifreeze and remove the ice from the rubber bands with a scraper or manually.
However, it is more effective and reliable not to fight the ice but not to let it get formed there initially. There are several ways to achieve that:

Firstly, it is important to remember that "no moisture - no freezing." Wipe the windshield wipers and glass dry wh ere they touch. Then you should put on special covers on the wipers which can be purchased at the store or even made by yourself.

Secondly, you can treat the wipers with silicone grease. Silicone is water-repellent which will protect the wipers from icing and freezing. This method is good because the effect lasts an average of a whole week.

Thirdly, you can purchase heating strips that are attached to the car windshield from the inside in the area of ​​the wipers. They help melt the icing in about 3-5 minutes.
