A bunch of stuff in your garage leaves no space to park your car?
Pretty often, our garage turns into a warehouse for the things that we couldn’t find a special place for. And the more it gets cluttered up, the more difficult it becomes to organize all this mess.
To do this, we have collected the most useful ideas on how to put things in order in the garage and maintain it in the future. Labour Day is a great time to finally do it. Moreover, spring is the time to get rid of all the things that you don’t need anymore in your life. :)
So, Step One.
The main thing to start with is to throw away everything that you have not needed for a long time.
Do not feel sorry and feel free to throw out broken and damaged things; especially if you have been saving them for several years in the hope that you will soon fix them.
Also, without regret and unnecessary thoughts, get rid of everything that has already expired; this will definitely not be useful to you anymore.
And you also don’t need all those things that you haven’t used for more than two years - give them away or sell them.
Step Two - Think over a storage system.
When the storage system is not logical and not convenient for permanent use, a spontaneous “warehouse” will still be constantly renewed in the garage. To prevent this from happening, you need to sort everything into sections: work tools, garden tools, sports equipment, equipment for tourism, household chemicals, etc. To keep the things in a convenient way and to be able to find small things later, you can distribute them to some boxes and put a sticker on each of them with the name of the contents.
Step Three - Create some space on the floor.
Most often, the floor in the garage becomes completely occupied by many things which are not supposed to be there. Not only does this create a kind of chaos, but it is downright unsafe. Organize the space in your garage so that all things are distributed across racks, shelves, brackets, and hooks - then you won't have to constantly jump over a pile of things on the floor and it will be easier to find the item you want.
Step Four - Think about the children.
It is better to store sports equipment and children's toys closer to the exit so that children do not have to get through the garage to the further corner for a ball or scooter every time, hitting on unsafe tools along the way. You can also purchase special holders, brackets and transparent boxes to keep everything in its place; this way things will always be freely available for children.
Step Five - Pay attention to the lighting.
The garage is a multifunctional place. This is not only some area for parking a car and storing things, but also a place for various kinds of work, including self-repairing a car. Therefore, be sure to take care of good bright lighting in your garage. This will make the room not only brighter and more comfortable, but also safer.
And finally: take care of safety. There should always be a fire extinguisher and a first aid kit in the garage. Store them in an easily accessible place.
Enjoy your holidays!
